This went on for some years, until a friend of mine said he had some trees that he wanted to use as solid fuel.    We took them down, cut them into logs and I stacked them for him.    It was at this point that the idea of LOG-ISTICS came about.

If you have an unwanted tree, we at LOG-ISTICS can identify it.    We can take it down safely and professionally, split and cut it to a size that fits your fire, and either stack it for your later use, or simply take it away.    We will even plant replacement trees if you wish, providing you with an ecological and economical fuel supply.

We can also deliver seasoned (ready to burn) logs in loose or net loads to suit your requirements, and nets of kindling too.

Log-istics - we turn your unwanted tree into fuel for your fire
Patrick Monger owner of Log-istics
Hello, I'm Patrick Monger, owner of LOG-ISTICS, the Test Valley's one-stop shop for home logging and firewood supplies.

After completing a full 5-year apprenticeship in Horticulture and Landscape Practices with Hilliers in 1988, I worked as a Contract Manager before setting up my own horticulture and landscape management business in 1990.    I am proud to say that Abbey Landscape Management (A.L.M.) is still going strong.
that living trees absorb the same amount of CO2 from the atmosphere as they emit when they are burned. This means that the burning of wood logs as fuel is carbon-neutral process, and I was happy to reduce my carbon footprint in this way.
As time went by, I had many opportunities to take down and remove trees as part of my Abbey Landscape Management business. This gave me a steady supply of wood for little or no cost.
In 2004, I realised a dream and bought a house in the country.
Idyllic?    Not really, with just an open fire for heat and an immersion heater costing me a small fortune for hot water.    In addition, 70 per cent of the heat from the fire was being lost up the chimney.    This was unacceptable, so I invested in a central heating system, served with hot water from a Stanley wood-burning kitchen range.    What a difference!     I had lower heating bills, plenty of hot water and 'Stanley' was cooking our meals at the same time - even during power cuts!

But there were other, wider-ranging social benefits too. It is now a well-known fact
